Few sailing vessels are surrounded by more myth and legend than the yacht Zaca. Launched on the eve of the Great Depression, the 118' gaff-rigged topsail schooner has sailed through 73 years of history from one remarkable adventure to the next. Today, berthed in Monaco, Zaca remains a topic of fascination in nautical circles and is the subject of this television documentary.
More than a yacht, Zaca is a stage on which dreams, ambitions and personal sagas of three generations have been played out. Every era in Zaca's history was recorded extensively in writing, photography and on motion picture film. This documentary film and the companion book, In the Wake of the Zaca, bring all this material together to provide a riveting look at some of the most interesting people and events of the 20th century.
